The English Football Association on Thursday revealed that the men’s and women’s international teams have been receiving equal pay, since January 2020.
The announcement follows Wednesday’s announcement that Brazil will pay their international women’s team the same as the men’s.
They join Australia, Norway and New Zealand on the list of football associations who had publicly committed to paying their male and female players the same for a senior cap.
“The FA pays its women’s players exactly the same as their male counterparts for representing England, both in terms of match fees and match bonuses. This parity has been in place since January 2020,” they said in a statement.
The issue of equal pay has been a hot topic in the football world, with USA having filed an appeal against the decision to dismiss their claim for equal pay with male counterparts.
