EPL Wrap: Aubameyang is scoring important goals for us – Arteta

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang produced a match winning performance as Arsenal edged out Mikel Arteta‘s old club Everton 3-2 in an Premier League encounter on Sunday evening at Emirates Stadium.

Arteta was full of praise for his in-demand star player Aubameyang as he scored a brace and showed leadership.

“I’m so happy with Auba [Aubameyang] because he is scoring very important goals for us, but as well as a captain he’s giving a great example to everyone else,” said Arteta.

Aubameyang, Arsenal captain walked away with the man of the match award for his efforts and moved to first position on the League’s top scorers’ charts with 17 goals.

“That a player of his calibre is able to work the way that he is working defensively… because of the demands of the matchday are big, and he is willing and he is happily doing it and I think we should pay regards to him.”- Arteta.

“The [clubs who want him] are completely right because he is a superb player. He completely deserves to be liked by all the other teams. Hopefully we can convince him that this is the right place for him and that he has a future here,” admitted Arteta.

The win over Everton moves Arsenal to ninth place on the log standings  and back in the battle for European places, while Everton drop to 11 spot.

“He wants to be up there with the best players in the world, and we have to try and support him and give him everything as a club, so that he really feels fulfilled here. That’s the challenge that we have, “noticed Arteta.

“Hopefully. [the win will convince Aubameyang to stay], “added the Arsenal mentor.

“I think it’s been tough for a player like him, because there’s been a lot of disappointment in the last few months or years because he has big expectations and he wants to play for the biggest clubs in the biggest tournaments.

On Monday, top of the table Liverpool will take on West Ham United at Anfield, kickoff at 22:00.
