Kaizer Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp believes Amakhosi have a very good chance of lifting the Absa Premiership title come end of the 2019/20 season.
The Glamour boys fought back from 3-2 down against Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend to win the match 5-3 in a eight-goal thriller at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban with Man of the match Samir Nurkovic netting a hattrick.
Nurkovic became the first Amakhosi player to score a hattrick since Bernard Parker back in 2012 in the 6-0 win against AmaZulu at the very same venue.
The Germany-born coach feels with the right attitude and getting the basics right Amakhosi are now in a very good position to go all the way and clinch the coveted trophy.
“When we are doing the basics right, defending and attacking well, in terms of control we have great potential in the team,” says the Chiefs coach.
“It’s something because of the potential but as I said the attitude and basics must be right at all times and based on this we have a good chance of winning the league,” adds the former Maritzburg United mentor.
Amakhosi are top of the table with 34 points after 13 games played with SuperSport United being the closest challengers at second position on the log table with 24.
Chiefs will return to Absa Premiership action on December 22 when they travel away to Harry Gwala Stadium to face 2019 Telkom Knockout finalists Maritzburg United
