Ajax Cape Town has given clarity on the presence of their former coach Muhsin Ertugral in their GladAfrica Championship game against Real Kings on Monday afternoon.

Ertugral was seen sitting next to the Ajax’s chairman Ari Efstathiou at Cape Town Stadium during the club’s 2-1 victory over Kings.

Ajax are at the summit of the GladAfrica Championship table with 42 points after 21 games, 5 points ahead of second-placed Uthongathi.

Ertugral did coach Ajax in their first season in the second-tier league after he relegated them from the Premier Soccer League but resigned after he managed only four wins in 11 games.

‘The Urban Warriors’ have been in an on and off relationship with the Turkish coach in recent years, and there are already rumours that he will be replacing Andries Ulderink as head coach at the Cape Town based club.

Ajax spokesperson Thabiso ‘Shoes’ Mekuto says Ertugral who owns a house in Cape Town was only at the game to support the club like any Capetonian.

“What? No, he will always be a fan you know he is a Capetonian remember. Muhsin is Capetonian, we see him on regular basis, “said Mekuto.
