Eswatini football association President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa has been nominated for the country’s Olympics and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) presidency position.
This is for the second time in a row that Mthethwa gets nominated for the position. He lost the previous elections to outgoing President Peter Shongwe five years ago.
The list of nominees was released by EOCGA Chief Executive Officer Sidney Simelane on Tuesday ahead of the highly anticipated annual general meeting on 31 January.
The current candidates are still going to be scrutinised according to the current constitution of the organisation in order to determine the final nominees.
The vice presidency will see a stiff battle between outgoing vice president Pearl Dlamini and Eswatini National tennis Association President, Maxwell Jele. Incumbent Treasurer Zakhele Zulu is hoping to retain his position at the expense of karate veteran Goodluck Gule.
Five seasoned administrators are hoping to secure places in the four slots of the membership category.
These include ex EOCGA former CEO Muriel Hofer, Eswatini Taekwondo President Zakhele Dlamini, and Athletics Eswatini and ex member Public Relations Officer Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, Basketball Eswatini president Nhlanhla Maphanga and Eswatini Swimming Association’s Lee Ann Young.
