Eva Nga breaks Chiefs’ heart with late winner

Cameroonian striker Bienvenu Eva Nga came from the bench to score a late winner that must have felt like a spear in the hearts of Kaizer Chiefs supporters at the FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Eva Nga scored in referee’s added time to give Wits a 1-0 victory.

Chiefs gave their all throughout the 90 minutes, but Wits had a lucky break as it looked like a draw was on the cards.

‘The Glamour Boys’ Absa Premiership title hopes suffered a massive blow with only two matches in the league remaining as the door is now wide open for second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns to move top of the table.

A win for defending champions, Sundowns against regelation-threatened Baroka this evening, will see them move three points clear of Chiefs.

Chiefs’ forwards huffed and puffed against a resolute Wits defence and threw everything but the kitchen sink.

They were far better than Wits, and particularly in the second half, created more chances but Samir Nurkovic and Co. failed to covert, much to the disappointment of Ernst Middendorp.
