Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Marshall Munetsi finally scored his first official goal in France where he turns out for Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims.
Munetsi was on target in his club’s 3-1 win over Bordeaux at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique as they bounced back to winning ways following their 1-1 draw with Olympique Nimes.
The Zimbabwe international has established himself as a vital cog in the Stade de Reims engine room since joining the club in June 2019, but a goal had remained elusive until Wednesday night.
Munetsi was introduced as a second half substitute and scored the club’s third goal to secure maximum points for his club.
The other two goals came through the boot of Morrocan International defender Yunis Abdelhamid in the 15th minute before Senegal forward Boulaye Dia doubled the lead three minutes later.
The 24-year-old midfielder was rewarded with a contract extension earlier this year, which keeps him at the club until 2024.
