Tala’a El-Geish striker Amr Gamal has officially recovered from coronavirus just one week after contracting the disease.
Tala’a El-Geish’s footballing director, Ahmed Fouad Al-Mahdy, confirmed that Gamal has recovered from COVID-19 after undergoing two tests in the past days.
The Al Ahly loanee, who previously played for Bidvest Wits, had announced on his Instagram account last Monday that he tested positive and immediately left his side’s training camp and was quarantined at home, per the Egyptian FA’s precautionary protocol.
The 27-year-old participated in El-Geish’s first friendly encounter since the suspension of football activities, when he assisted their second goal in their 2-0 win over Misr El-Makkasa.
The military side were then supposed to face Cairo giants Zamalek a week later, however the game was cancelled after Gamal’s case was discovered.
The game has since been reportedly moved to August 29th at the Borg El-Arab Stadium.
Gamal currently plays for Tala’a El-Geish on loan from Al Ahly, after his move to Tunisia’s CS Sfaxian had fallen off.
He has scored twice and assisted once in 13 Egyptian Premier League games as his club sit 14th, only two points away from the relegation zone.
