In a shocking turn of events, Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele claims Mduduzi Mdantsane is still their player and they expect him back at training in Limpopo.
Mdantsane was unveiled as a new signing by Cape Town City last week.
Baroka also confirmed their former captain’s departure via their social media platforms.
But speaking to FARPost.co.za on Wednesday, Mphahlele claims the team has never issued Mdantsane with a clearance.
“I did not let him go, he chose to go and must force him to play here? No I can’t. I did not release Mdantsane so he chose to go”
“I hear he has joined Cape Town City but I have not heard anything from them because no one from them ever phoned me. He has not been released (by Baroka) so he is still our player” continued Mphahlele.
“No, he has not been cleared, he has not been released that’s what I am saying, he is still our player. I am waiting for them to come to me because I can’t do things based on speculation because what you are telling me is speculation.”
If the claims by Mphahlele are true it means Mdantsane now has 2 professional contracts. He was left with 6 months at Baroka with the team having a 2-year option to renew.
Meanwhile, Cape Town City have since responded and the letter they posted show that it’s indeed a clearance from Baroka, signed by Mphahlele.
