Black Leopards coach Luc Eymael has responded to the comments made by midfielder Lefa Hlongwane that the reason he is not getting game time is because the coach does not like him.
Hlongwane was quoted by the Daily Sun giving the club an ultimatum to loan him out during the January transfer window period, even if it means going to play in the GladAfrica Championship.
The last time the 26-year-old played for Lidoda Duvha was in September during the 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic at Thohoyandou Stadium.
Speaking to FARPost.co.za on Wednesday, the Belgian coach refuted the allegations.
“First of all I don’t like commenting on that because as you see the players (including Lefa Hlongwane) are at training,” said Eymael.
“You know Lefa had a running stomach before the match at Port Elizabeth (against Chippa United) and he was not training for 2 days because of a running stomach so he couldn’t be selected and after that when we came back he got an injury because he played in a friendly match.
“But the player saying I don’t like him I don’t know exactly what he means.
“You know I am a father; I am 60 years old; I am a grandfather also and all my players are my sons and its not like that.
“Me, I appreciate all the players, how is it possible that I don’t appreciate all the players after arriving only some weeks ago? You know I only arrived here in September. There are 31 or 32 players here so mathematically you can only pick 18 match day squad and leave the rest,” he added.
Leopards are set to hold an urgent meeting today at 14:00 with the players and the technical staff to iron issues including the latest one involving the coach and Hlongwane.
