FC Platinum appoint new coach

Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League champions FC Platinum have appointed a new head coach Hendrik Pieter de Jong taking over from Lizwe Sweswe who has been working on an interim basis.

The Dutchman replaces Norman Mapeza who  left the club in September 2019 to join Chippa United in the Absa Premiership.

The former NAC Breda and Rotterdam player was at Highlanders last season.

He helped the club secure sixth position after taking over whole the club was struggling at the bottom of the table when the former FC Cape Town coach arrived.

De Jong also helped them win the Chibuku Super Cup over Ngezi Platinum Stars with the club qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup.

FC Platinum have also announced the arrival of the experienced Tembo Chuma as their new goalkeeper coach.
