FC Sivutsa chairman Derick Khoza has confirmed the departure of their head coach, Innocent Mayoyo.
This comes after the club failed to gain promotion to the GladAfrica Championship in the just-ended ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs.
“He [Mayoyo] is no longer with the club,” Khoza tells FARPost.
“He has left the club from the day we got eliminated from the ABC Motsepe League National playoffs.”
The Mpumalanga-based outfit were drawn in Group B alongside Leruma United and Hungry Lions, who won the 2021 national playoffs after defeating Platinum City Rovers 5-4 on penalties.
Sivutsa won their first game against Lions with a 2-1 scoreline and went on to lose 1-0 in their second match to Leruma at the South African football third-tier playoffs.
When the chairman was asked what led to the exit of Mayoyo from the club, he then said that: “You know, there was a sort of confusion. The day that it was confirmed we won’t be playing in the semi-finals, there were deliberations from the players and the management about him that “lomuntu usithengisile” (this person sold us), because he was supposed to field the same team that played the first game.”
Meanwhile, Mayoyo is linked with a move to GladAfrica Championship side Polokwane City, according to sources close to this publication.
Earlier this month, FARPost reported that ‘Rise and Shine’ have parted ways their coach Johnny Ferreira, who will be expected to be unveiled by the newly purchased Limpopo GladAfrica Championship club, Venda Football Academy (VFA).
