A number of Kaizer Chiefs fans including one Mamelodi Sundowns faithful flocked to the Johannesburg International Airport on Wednesday morning to welcome the ‘Glamour Boys’ home.
The team was due to arrive home on Monday morning but flight mechanical concerns – technical issues with the chartered plane that flew the team to Morocco, Amakhosi’s return to South Africa was delayed.
Chiefs flew back commercially on Tuesday evening and the team’s plane touched down early this morning.
The Soweto giants suffered a 3-0 defeat to Al Ahly in the Caf Champions League final on Saturday.
“After a long trip, challenges, colourful and cultural experiences in the beautiful city of Casablanca, the Glamour Boys and staff arrived safely from Morocco this morning,” said Chiefs in a statement.
“We want to say a big shout out to the supporters who met us at the airport. Thank you for coming through.
“Thank you to our new friends & family in Morocco for their reception. A shout-out must go to our Embassy, Ambassador Ebrahim & his team were gracious hosts. We would also like to wish all Muslims in S.A., Morocco & the world a happy & blessed Eid Ul Adha. Eid Mubarak to you all.”
