Despite the financial difficulty that is faced by some clubs in Mozambique’s top-flight – Mozambola such as Textáfrica do Chimoio and Desportivo de Maputo, the Mozambican Football League guarantees the resumption of football in the country from the 8th of May.
Textáfrica and Desportivo went for a few weeks without training due to lack of salaries. But the president of the league, Ananias Couana said that athletes who consider themselves to be professionals must act like “professionals”.
Lance.co.mz reported that the LMF said that it has already taken care of all the bureaucratic and logistical aspects to guarantee that the league restarts and everything is taken care of “in terms of the logistics of team travel as well as the scheduling of matches.”
“We encourage clubs to do everything to resume Mozambola,” said Couana.
One of the actions underway to ensure the safe return of the National Football Championship is related to the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in addition to the availability of screening tests for the new coronavirus.
“All players of the clubs will be vaccinated, we started with the vaccination of the elements of Textáfrica do Chimoio, Incomáti de Xinavane, ENH of Vilankulos, for this Monday the immunization of the Ferroviário da Beira was scheduled and this Tuesday will be the players’ turn teams in the city of Maputo,” added Couana.
“The president of the LMF reiterated that despite the budget deficit of the race, everything is taken care of to carry out the race until the end of the race.
“Unfortunately we had this stop that ended some negotiations that we were having in relation to some partners that could enter to be in the race, but we believe this resumption will catalyze what are the negotiations for the entry of new partners.”
