Simy Nwankwo is a wanted man in Europe.
Serie A club Fiorentina are the latest club to join in the race to sign the Crotone forward, according to reports.
Nwankwo scored 20 goals this past season in Serie A and according to Repubbilca, Fiorentina have now entered the race for his signature.
The newspaper said the striker is affordable and negotiations will be further helped by the fact that his club Crotone will play next season in the lower Serie B after recently suffering relegation from the top-flight.
Crotone have already said ‘Simy’ has attracted offers from teams in Serie A as well as in the German Bundesliga. Speaking to Corriere Dello Sport, Crotone sporting director Beppe Ursino said there is a lot of interest in the striker.
“Simy has requests from Serie A, but above all from the Bundesliga. Many Serie A teams have requested for him and he will certainly be sold.
“He is on the market because he is in great demand.”
Crotone want a transfer figure of around eight Million Euros and whoever can manage to meet the asking price will sign the 29-year-old.
Nigeria national team coach Gernot Rohr recently called the striker for two international friendlies against Cameroon, but he was ruled out through injury.
Cameroon won the first friendly 1-0 before a 0-0 stalemate at Wiener Neustadt Stadium three days later.
Rohr is looking for a lethal striking partnership going to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon as well as the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers scheduled to start in September.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho and KRC Genk hitman Paul Onuachu also had a great 2020/21 campaign with their respective clubs. Osimhen led the front-line as the Super Eagles convincingly qualified for the Afcon.
