Sadio Mane has heaped praise on striking partner, Roberto Firmino.
This is after the Brazilian striker received heavy criticism from fans and local media for his lack of consistency in front of goal. Mane and Mohammed Salah have often been the golden boys because of their ability to find the back of the net.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mane has defended his teammate saying he is the one that deserves praise for most of the good things the team has been able to achieve in front of goal.
“It is part of football, people always seeing the goals scored, but without Bobby, I don’t see me and Mohamed score as many goals as we have, to be honest.
“He makes everything easier for us. Brazil are just lucky to have Firmino. I have always said to Bobby, ‘You will have to change your nationality and come to Senegal’.
“For me, that would be a dream. I just love him. I think he is my favourite teammate.”
Many have been calling for Jurgen Klopp to drop the 29-year-old and try other options in his position. The most common choice is Diogo Jota who has done really well since his arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers at the beginning of the season.
Jota netted nine goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Reds before an unfortunate injury he sustained in a Uefa Champions League clash against FC Midtylland, which has kept him out of action for months.
Liverpool has been having inconsistent performances in the English Premier League. The defending champions are currently sixth on the log standings with 40 points from 25 games played.
In the Champions League, the Merseyside side won 2-0 in the first leg of the last 16 away from home against RB Leipzig and will they will host the German side on the 10th of March in the return leg.
