After completing a move to Italian side Atalanta Calcio in the current transfer window 16-year-old midfielder Alwande Roaldsoy has hit the ground running with the Serie A team’s U17 side as they beat rivals Inter Milan in the league.
Roaldsoy started the game and played 90 minutes in the five-goal thriller that ended 3-2 on the day. The teenager began the game as a left-winger, but occasionally switched flanks every 20 minutes as part of the game plan.
He started by assisting the first goal of the match before later scoring a winner in the 84th minute of the game to give Atalanta a well-deserved win away from home.
The midfielder who was born in Norway to a South African mother and Norwegian father was signed by Atalanta from Norwegian 4th tier side Drobak Fogn penning a three-year-deal.
Roaldsoy had made his intentions of making his senior team debut by the end of the 2020/21 season clear as he began his journey in Italy. He can play as a central attacking midfielder and a winger with his height, speed, skills and finishing abilities being his biggest asset in attack.
The player has not represented South Africa nor Norway at any level at international level but after a move to one of Europe’s top leagues and clubs that shouldn’t be the case for long.
