Glad Africa Championship side Jomo Cosmos secured their first full points of the season, following a 1-0 win over Cape Umoya United at Giyani Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Ezinkosi had a terrible start to their 2019/10 League campaign after three draws and two defeats in their previous five matches.
But a 51st minute strike by Clinton Fredricks gave Cosmos the much-needed points which see them climb from bottom of the Log to 11th with six points from six matches.
Sono who sounded more relieved with the victory compared the feeling to going on a first romantic date.
“The hardest part of the game was to get your first win; you know it’s like dating. Your first date is very confusing because you don’t know what to do,” said the ‘Troublemaker’.
“We have been looking for a win for the past five games and we couldn’t get it and I think because we won today things will change a little bit because we have a good team but they were nervous because we were not winning,” said Sono.
He also explained the decision to play three Glad Africa Championship matches at Giyani Stadium in Limpopo instead of their regular Vosloorus Stadium in Gauteng.
“This is my home, so I have brought my games at home. We are bringing Swallows here (Saturday, October 26) but I would like to bring all the Cape Town teams here,” he said jokingly, aware that it’s a long trip for the Western Cape sides.
Although Sono was born in Soweto, both his grandparents were born in Ka-Bungeni, Limpopo 60km from Giyani.
