Following the news that Netball SA President Cecilia Molokwane has tested positive for COVID-19, SAFA Vice-President Ria Ledwaba has confirmed to FARPost that she is also getting tested today.

Netball SA confirmed in a statement today that Molokwane held business travels between the United Kingdom and Scotland, at the beginning of this month.

Ledwaba and Molokwane spent the better part of Saturday March 15 side by side at the Inaugural Boy Mamabolo High School tournament in Seshego.

This was upon Molokwane’s return from the UK where she held meetings with the International Netball Federation (INF) where she serves as a board member.

“I am actually on my way to go and test but it is not because of that it was because I had intended to go today. It’s something that I decided immediately when they announced the lockdown,” Ledwaba told FARPost.

“I am not worried at all I am going there with a clear conscious that it’s something that you can contact anywhere else,” she said.

Ledwaba also adds the Netball President had everyone’s support to recover from the pandemic.

“I want her (Cecilia Molokwane) not to be worried. The fact that she has tested is key because she knows and she can be able to take medication that is encouraging and we encourage everybody to go test. I tried calling her but she didn’t answer the phone but she is a strong girl.”

The number of COVID-19 cases in South Africa have jumped to 554 as of Tuesday, March 24.
