The University of the Western Cape (UWC) Ladies team have announced the signing of three new players on Monday, among them former Basetsana (SA women’s U20) captain Amogelang Motau.
Motau, who left UWC Ladies back in 2017 to study and play football in the United States at Oral Roberts University, is “super excited to be back”.
The 23-year-old can play as a midfield No. 8 or No. 10, even on the wing, and her biggest strength is her versatility in different positions inside the engine room. Motau captained UWC Ladies in 2016 and has also featured for Banyana Banyana making her debut against Egypt in October 2016 during an international friendly.
The other two new UWC Ladies players are former Bantwana (SA women’s U17) stars, Thambolinye Mzoneli, who plays as a striker and Zikhona Nogqala, a defender.
“UWC Football Club has today announced three new signings, ahead of the resumption of the Safa National Women’s League 2021 season. Amogelang Motau, Thambolinye Mzoneli, and Zikhona Nogqala Welcome to the club ladies,” reads the club statement.
