Former Chippa United defender Kevin Moyo has resurfaced at Tanzania champions Simba SC after an unceremonious exit at the Port Elizabeth outfit last season.
The Zimbabwean centre-back and his twin, Elvis, parted ways with the Chilli Boys in September with a year left on their contracts.
Four months later, one of the Moyo twins is on the verge of joining the Tanzanian giants, who thumped his former club FC Platinum 4-0 during the week in a first round, second leg Caf Champions League.
The win earned them a place in the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition and Moyo is excited about the prospects of playing in the continent.
“Everything has been fine, so far so good in Tanzania and we are doing everything we can to get this deal.
“It’s every player’s dream to have a chance of playing in the Champions League.
“I have been there with FC Platinum, so I know the benefits and the exposure you get when playing at such a grand stage,” Moyo said.
Moyo, together with Caps United striker Ian Nyoni, who is also linked with Simba, were pictured celebrating the club’s fourth goal on Wednesday.
Nyoni has been in Caps United’s book since January 2020, but due to Covid-19 is yet to feature in a competitive match for the club.
The two started for Simba in the 3-1 win over Chipukizi in a Mapinduzi Cup match played on Friday.
Nyoni provided an assist while Moyo also had a good game in the heart of defence.
Simba were drawn in Group A alongside Al Ahly (Egypt)‚ AS Vita Club (DR Congo) and Al Merrikh (Sudan) in the Champions League and would want to bolster their squad.
The Tanzanian giants were linked to Perfect Chikwende, the FC Platinum striker, but his club reportedly turned down an offer.
Chikwende is also linked Azam FC who are said to be keen on his signature.
