After parting ways with Mamelodi Sundowns, Uruguayan striker Mauricio Affonso has joined River Plate in his home country.
Affonso returned to Uruguay following a brief stint at Sundowns.
The 29-year-old made 22 appearances for the Tshwane giants in two seasons, scoring six goals.

“Welcome to the ‘Darsenero’, Maurico! Affonso is the new addition of River Plate for this 2021,” said River Plate in a statement.
The striker has already started training with his new club at the Federico Saroldi Park.
