As the saying goes: ‘There is no smoke without fire’.
Free State Stars are seemingly on sale but the club’s general manager Rantsi Mokoena has distanced themselves from reports that they are in discussion with two clubs, one in Limpopo and in Johannesburg over the sale of their GladAfrica Championship status.
Mokoena revealed in an interview with FARPost that the club is preparing for the upcoming 2021/22 season and denied with great vigour that the Free State outfit is up for sale.
However, FARPost has it on good authority that a club competing in the ABC Motsepe League in the Limpopo province has shown interest and already held talks with ‘Ea Lla Koto’ about the possibility of acquiring their second-tier league status.
Mokoena has, however, moved to reassure fans that no sale is forthcoming for the club.
“I don’t know where this thing, the rumour is coming from, that we are selling our status. I don’t even know the people who want to buy the team – we are not for sale,” reiterated a heated-up Mokoena.
