Ode Fulutudilu’s career has reached new heights after confirmation that she has joined Scottish giants Glasgow City on Thursday evening.
The Banyana Banyana international arrives from Finnish side Aland United, having also played for Cape Town Roses and Malaga.
In a statement on the club’s website, it said Fulutudilu “has put to pen to paper to become the newest addition to the Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) 1 reigning Champions Glasgow City.”
The 30-year-old helped Aland United lift the League and Cup domestic double as the club became Champions for the first time in seven years last month with Fulutudilu finding the back of the net seven times in 15 matches in the process.
She was also part of the historic Banyana side that qualified for the Fifa Women’s World Cup Finals in 2019, starting all three matches in France alongside Glasgow and international teammate – captain Janine Van Wyk.
“I am really excited about this opportunity of joining such a club as Glasgow City,” said Fulutudilu.
The Banyana striker will wear jersey number nine at her new club. “I am looking forward to playing my part in contributing to the future of the club and giving my all for the future success of the club,” she added.
Meanwhile, Glasgow head coach Scott Booth said: “Ode is a player who has an incredible ability to stretch the opposition.”
Fulutudilu’s signing explains Glasgow’s intentions of defending their Scottish title and ensure participation in next year’s Uefa Women’s Champions League (UWCL).
“Her pace will cause teams a huge headache and she is hungry to score goals. Ultimately, she brings experience, a fantastic work ethic, modesty and a huge cutting edge. I am very pleased with how the squad is shaping up,” concluded Booth.
Glasgow will return to league action against Celtic on January 17, 2021, at K Park with Fulutudilu expected to make her Scottish topflight debut.
