DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy have confirmed that they have parted ways with their former head coach Mabhuti Khenyeza.
Khenyeza took over the reins at the then GladAfrica Championship side Galaxy in February after leaving AmaZulu.
The former Bafana Bafana marksman was demoted to being the head coach of the club’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) team in September, following a 10th place finish in the second-tier league.
The 38-year-old is heading to Golden Arrows where he is reportedly earmarked for the assistant coach role under Mandla Ncikazi.
“TS Galaxy can confirm that the club has parted ways with coach, Mabhuti Khenyeza and we wish him well in his new chapter,” the club said in a statement on Tuesday.
“We thought, it will be better for (him to go) home to take an opportunity to assist at Golden Arrows. It is a PSL club after all. Unless if MDC was active, it wouldn’t have been a problem.
“An opportunity emerge for coach, Mabhuti. Him and I looked at it and we thought you know what, as opposed to waiting for the MDC to start or even an announcement, it will be better off, if he would take an opportunity,” explained Galaxy Chairman Tim Sukazi.
Ncikazi is expected to be announced as head coach at ‘Abafana Bes’thende’ following the departure of Coach Steve Komphela who has been announced as senior coach at Mamelodi Sundowns.
