Parma Calcio have been relegated to the second division of Italian football after losing 1-0 against Torino on Monday evening.
Veteran winger Gervinho was given another start by coach Roberto D’Aversa and played the entire 90 minutes, but he couldn’t help the club avoid the defeat away from home.
Mergim Vojvoda scored the only goal of the game at the Olimpico di Torino Stadium in Turin. Parma have managed to secure only 20 points from 34 league games and join Nwankwo Simy’s Crotone who have also been relegated to Serie B.
Gervinho has played 25 league games scoring five goals and assisting another strike in the process. It remains to be seen if the 33-year-old will stay with Parma next season or he will look for a new home in the top-flight.
Elsewhere, Algerian winger Said Benrahma played 78 minutes and laid an assist for the second goal as West Ham United continued their quest for a top four finish with a 2-1 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor Stadium.
The winger played a beautiful cross which was met by Michail Antonio who got the slightest of touches to beat Nick Pope and seal all three points for the London side.
After initially struggling to find his feet in the Premier League, Benrahma has finally adapted to life under David Moyes who has been using him more frequently in recent games. West Ham have an option to make the attacker’s loan move permanent at the end of the current campaign.
