A former AC Milan goalkeeper has made a strong statement heaping praise on Amad Diallo.
The Manchester United winger has not even played in the Premier League yet , but he has been tipped to follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi, George Best and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Giovani Galli has tipped the winger to win the Ballon d’Or within the next five years. After joining United in January, the 18-year-old announced his arrival in style, scoring against AC Milan in the Uefa Europa League with a brilliant backward header.
Despite the fact that Diallo has not played much in the league, he is already being fast-tracked into the Ivory Coast national team and the man who helped secure him a move to Atalanta reckons he can emulate the likes of Lionel Messi and George Best by winning the Ballon d’Or before the age of 23.
The former AC Milan and Italy goalkeeper, organised Amad’s trial with Atalanta which led to him joining the Serie A club from Boca Barco in 2015.
Speaking to Goal.com, Galli said he is confident that the United ace can win the prize for the world’s best footballer if he works on his strength.
“Amad is unique, but he must make himself stronger. At the same time, he must make sure he does not lose his speed, which is a quality that distinguishes him from others.
“In short, I think he has all the qualities to be a candidate for the Ballon d’Or in the next five years.
“He is very young and has already made his debut in the Europa League just two months after arriving in England.
“I think next year he will have more chances to stand out in the first team.
“He is a very good player, but he has to remember that talent alone is not enough. He has to work hard and become a footballer who plays for and with the team.”
