Log leaders Platinum City Rovers suffered their first defeat of the season after being beaten by Pretoria Callies 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. It wasn’t to be for Rovers as Callies through the boots of Edmore Chirambadare and captain Philani Cele secured them all three points and moved them up to 14th position.
Lucky Sithelele’s late strike sunk Jomo Cosmos deeper into the relegation zone, continuing with their losing streak as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila bounced back by claiming the three points.
Free State Stars and Cape Town Spurs played to a goalless draw; the point saw Stars moving up to third position while Spurs dipped further down the relegation zone.
On Friday afternoon, Hungry Lions were held to a 1–1 draw by Cape Town All Stars, after going into the half time break leading 1-0. This is a back-back draw for the Northern Cape side and dropping to fourth position.
Polokwane City came out triumphant after defeating JDR Stars 3–2 in a thrilling encounter that saw Stars equalize in the 84th minute, only to slip 3 minutes later and to give City the lead. The result moved City up to 2nd position, 2 points behind the log leaders.
Black Leopards and the University of Pretoria shared the spoils in a goalless encounter at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
In Mbombela, TS Sporting came back to secure a point against Uthongathi FC after playing to a 1–1 draw at home.
