GladAfrica Wrap: CT Spurs’ poor run of form continues


It was goals galore on matchday seven of the 2020/21 GladAfrica Championship season as a total of 22 goals were scored in eight matches at the weekend.

Cape Town Spurs’ woes continued as they dropped points against Free State Stars – playing to a 1-1 draw at home.

The team that nearly gained promotion to South Africa’s topflight last season remains bottom of the GladAfrica log standings.

Cape Town All Stars made light work of former Premiership side Polokwane City with a comfortable 2-0 victory at Parow Park Stadium on Friday to kickoff matchday seven.

In KwaZulu Natal at the Chatsworth Stadium, Royal AM continued their resurgence as they extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a draw 2-2 against Steenberg United.

Jomo Cosmos drew 1-1 with Cape Umoya United in Potchefstroom, Olen Park while JDR Stars secured an impressive 3-1 win over second-tier league newcomers Bizana Pondo Chiefs 3-1 at the Giant Stadium.

At the Princess Magogo Stadium, Uthongathi left it late to earn a valuable point as they held Sekhukhune United to a 1-1 draw.

Two matches were played on Sunday with TS Sporting sealing a 2-1 win over University of Pretoria at Tuks Stadium, while Richards Bay edged out Pretoria Callies 2-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
