There is nothing to separate Sekhukhune United, JDR Stars, Jomo Cosmos and Uthongathi after a weekend round action in the GladAfrica Championship as the four teams are tied on 16 points at the top of the log.
But Uthongathi have a game in hand on their fellow leaders and on Saturday they walked away with all the three points after beating Steenberg United 1-0.
The weekend though started with a goalless draw between Cape United and Sekhukhune United at Parow Park on Friday.
Cape Town Spurs took the bragging rights in their derby against a 10-man Cape Town All Stars, winning 1-0 but they remain at the foot of the table.
Saturday also saw three draws, with JDR Stars v Richards Bay ending goalless, as Jomo Cosmos v Pretoria University and Free State Stars v Polokwane City both finished 2-2.
‘Ezenkosi’ will reflect harshly on throwing away a two-goal lead while ‘Rise and Shine’ salvaged a point at Goble Park.
The action continued on Sunday with two matches which saw Royal AM suffer a 1-0 at home defeat to Pretoria Callies and Bizana Pondo Chiefs ensured they didn’t remain in last place by holding visitors TS Sporting 0-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium.
The GladAfrica Championship will continue with a full round of fixtures on 26-27 January.
