Newly appointed Pretoria Callies head coach Joel Masutha managed to earn a point in his first game in charge against Jomo Cosmos at the weekend despite having little time to prepare.
While the GladAfrica Championship side, Callies progressed to the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup, the club have struggled in the league and currently occupy 11th place on the log with 24 points after 19 matches in their first season in the second-tier league.
Callies parted ways with Sammy Troughton and replaced him with the former Black Leopards and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila head coach.
Callies chairman Moses Malada was full of praise for the coach.
“Everybody is aware that we’ve got a new coach in the name of Masutha, he is not new in the game of football and we are expecting a lot of activities,” said Callies chairman Malada.
“Players played a different football (0-0 draw versus Cosmos) and they played very well given the fact that the coach didn’t have much time to prepare, he only had a day, but things are in good shape and we are happy as Pretoria Callies management,” concluded the chairman.
