Glendene United are the Western Cape ABC Motsepe League champions after finishing on the summit of the provincial mini log standings.

The side ended the season with 33 points from 12 outings, 10 points ahead of the second-placed Batalion FC.

This league was one of its own kind after only seven teams agreed to take part in this year’s provincial ABC League, while other clubs decided to step aside citing that they have circumstances such as financial burdens, difficulty to comply with COVID-19 protocols, closed facilities, loss of players, located in areas that are declared hotspots, just to mention a few.

Glendene will now represent the province at the ABC Motsepe League National playoffs in Mpumalanga from June 28 – July 3.

The Western Cape reigning champions join the likes of BCM Stars (Eastern Cape), Platinum City Rovers (North West), Hungry Lions (Northern Cape), Umvoti (KwaZulu Natal), FC Sivutsa NPC (Mpumalanga) and Mangaung Unite (Free State) in the national playoffs.

The winners are yet to be decided in Limpopo and Gauteng provinces.
