Kenya champions Gor Mahia’s trip to Lusaka, Zambia for their Caf Confederation Cup tie against Napsa Stars hangs in the balance.
The team was scheduled to travel on Friday, but failed and remains holed up in Nairobi. Gor Mahia secretary general Sam Ochola confirmed the team was still in Nairobi, adding they were “expected to take off anytime before the Sunday clash”.
“It is true, we have not traveled as expected, we were supposed to leave for Zambia on Friday but some issues cropped up so we did not travel,” Ochola explained.
“We are doing our best to make sure the team travels before the end of Saturday; we are working on it.”
Ochola could not explain the reason the team could not travel on Friday.
“There are many things and I cannot explain now, just call me after two hours and I will be able to give you full details of what happened and what time the team will travel.”
The Kenyan champions lost 1-0 to Napsa Stars at home and will have work extra hard to qualify for the continental league group stage.
The Nairobi-based side has struggled to shell out players’ dues and almost missed their first round tie against Algeria’s CR Belouizdad citing financial constraints.
