Pep Guardiola wants to leave Manchester City in 2023.

The Spaniard has revealed that he will leave Manchester City when his contract runs out in 2023 and hopes to manage a national team after that.

Guardiola joined City in 2016 after leaving German giants Bayern Munich. He has spent the past five years with the Premier League club and won three league titles.

Speaking at an online event organized by Brazilian financial services company XP Investimentos, the 50-year-old said his next goal is to coach a national team.

“I think I’m going to have a stop. I’m going to have to take a break, see what we’ve done,” he explained.

“Next step will be a national team, if there is a possibility.

“I would like to train a South American team, European team, playing a Copa America, I want to have that experience.”

The news will come as a blow to City fans on the same period when their chances of signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane came to an end, with the England captain confirming that he will be staying put at the London club.

To add to the three league titles, Guardiola has also won one FA Cup and four successive League Cups with City.

This is seemingly his way of doing things because in 2012, he took a 12-month break from management after leaving Barcelona in 2012 before joining Bayern Munich.

Last season, City lost in the final of the Uefa Champions League against Chelsea. This is one trophy that has been alluding the Citizens in their history and Guardiola will hope to bring it home before he leaves.
