Hadebe enjoying turn of fortunes in Turkey

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Teenage Hadebe’s ingenuity continues to get recognition following his second successive inclusion in the Turkish Super Lig team of the week.

The Zimbabwe international endured a difficult start to the 2020/21 season with minimal game time at Turkey side Yeni Malatyaspor. However, the left-footed centre back has been handed starts in the last two league games, and did not disappoint, putting up stellar performances in both.

Last week, Malatyaspor drew 1-1 with Instabul Basakshehir and his outstanding display earned him a place in the best eleven of match day 10. Again, this past weekend, Malatyaspor shocked title-chasing Fenerbahçe 3-0 in their own backyard and Hadebe turned on another fine performance. He was named in the team of the week again.

A few months ago, Hadebe’s management team revealed that they turned down an approach from French side, Amiens.

The 26-year-old, who spent two seasons at Chiefs, had an impressive term in the Turkish top-flight, earning himself a place in the 2019/20 Team of the Season.

The former Highlanders defender’s team said there had been several inquiries from Europe for his signature, but insisted they would only consider a much better offer if he is to leave.
