Former Bidvest Wits defender and Bafana Bafana international Sifiso Hlanti has penned a deal with DStv Premiership newcomers Swallows FC.
Swallows chairman David Mogashoa confirmed the news via his social media account that Hlanti is now “a Bird”.
The 30-year-old left back was training with Kaizer Chiefs for a number of weeks hoping that the club’s two-window transfer ban will be overturned.
However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed Chiefs appeal a few days ago, meaning the club cannot register Hlanti due to the FIFA ban.
Swallows didn’t reveal the length of Hlanti’s deal, but reports suggest that he will feature for the Soweto side for one season.
Hlanti was a free agent after getting his clearance from Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) following their takeover of Wits at the end of the 2019/20 seasson.
