Considering their incredible record at home in the CAF Champions League, Hlompho Kekana says Al Ahly will be ‘’very cautious” and tread carefully ahead of their quarterfinal second leg clash on Saturday at Lucas Moripe Stadium, kickoff at 15:00.
Sundowns failed to score in the first leg in Cairo against Al Ahly losing 2-0 Cairo and Kekana who recently signed a signed a new 4-year deal said, “One will presume that Al Ahly will come at us very cautiously.”
“Because they know the amount of pressure we put here at home. I hope we don’t get stage fright and we do what we have to do, I believe one goal that will set the tone is important,” added Kekana.
The last time the Egyptian giants played Sundowns in South Africa, they suffered a 5-0 loss. Mosimane’s men last tasted defeat at home in the Champions League back in June 2017 against Tunisia’s Esperance where they were beaten 2-1. Their home unbeaten run stretches to 18 matches, 14 wins and 4 draws.
“We are building from the positives that we had in the group stages where we did not lose a single match, we want that kind of performance tomorrow,” said the Sundowns captain.
“This is a match where we can’t start slow, we need to ensure that we start well because is a match we need to win and win with 3-0 because we can’t allow them to score a goal here at home.
“We look ready, we have prepared well here at training and the boys are looking very sharp, we were doing finishing today and I can see that the guys are looking ready to finish off the match on Saturday,” concluded the veteran midfielder.
