Hollywoodbets Super League set for return in September

The Hollywoodbets Super League is expected to resume on Saturday, 7 August 2021.

Earlier this month, the league announced that it will take a month-long break due to the Covid-19 surge in the country.

The league sponsor Hollywoodbets vowed to put lives first, in agreeing to halt the league, as per recommendations made by the Safa Chief Medical Officer, Dr Thulani Ngwenya who is also the association’s Compliance Officer.

Reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will travel to the Free State to play Tsunami Queens on 7 August in a match that was postponed in July 2021 when some of the Sundowns Ladies players were called up to the National team. Ma-Indies will on the same day host the University of the Western Cape at Giyani Stadium.

Sunday 8 July 2021 will see JVW Ladies hosting Coal City Wizards at Tsakani Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 15h00.

“We are excited with the return of the Hollywoodbets Super League next weekend following advice from our CMO (Chief Medical Officer) and consultation with our sponsors and the SABC. I’m certain that teams have been craving for some league action in the past few weeks. In taking this decision we were also mindful that the pandemic is still with us thus we have requested all clubs to observe the health and safety protocols as recommended by our CMO”, said SAFA COO, Ms Lydia Monyepao.

The remainder of the fixtures for the rest of the season will be announced in due course.
