Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly comfortably beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in the Caf Champions League quarterfinal first-leg encounter at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on Saturday evening.

Taher Mohamed fired the home side into the lead in the 24th minute from outside the box after receiving a great pass from Dieng but Denis Onyango should have done better. A few moments before the opening goal Gift Motupa hit the inside of the post from a header.

Late into the second half, Salah Mohsen scored the second goal for the host with Onyango committing a terrible error – a blunder as he misjudged a high cross and let Mohsen convert into an empty net.

In the end, the Cairo Red Devils marched to a pretty comfortable first-leg victory with the return-leg set for next weekend.
