Golden Arrows failed to get maximum points to close the gap at the top of the table in the DStv Premiership clash after they played out to a drab 1-all draw with Cape Town City at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.

Velemseni Ndwandwe cancelled out an early Abdul Jeleel Ajagun’s goal to ensure that Abafana Bes’thende stretch their unbeaten run to four matches in the South African football top-flight.

The visitors took the lead just four minutes into the game with a goal from the Nigerian international Ajagun.

The KZN-based outfit came close to netting an equalizer, as Ndwandwe’s volley from a close range levelled matters in the 13th minute.

Mandla Ncikazi’s side remain second on league table with 36 points, just four points adrift of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while the Citizens are placed seventh with 26 points.

Both sides pushed forward to add to the scoreline, but their efforts were not good enough to change the game’s outcomes.
