Cape Town City stroll past Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) 3-0 in the DStv Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
Ayanda Nkili was sent off to take an early shower as he was red carded in the 27th minute.
Two minutes later, Aubrey Ngoma’s cross was met with a handball in the 18 area. Mduduzi Mdantsane stepped up to take the penalty and failed to convert as Washington Arubi dived the right way.
It was a game that went back and forth with both sides enjoying spells on top, although neither could exert enough pressure to grab a breakthrough goal before the half-time break.
The Citizens came back more spirited in the second-half to change the game’s outcomes as Abdul Ajagun found an opener in the 58th minute.
As the game progressed, things got tense when the Cape Town-based side added to the scoreline with a goal from Tashreeq Morris in the 90+1 minute with a beautiful header.
Fragie Lakay sealed the deal when he scored the third goal from a penalty spot sending Arubi the wrong way in the dying minutes of the encounter (90+4′).
The Citizens currently sit 6th in the top-flight log standings with 36 points after 24 games, while Vhadau Vha Damani remain 14th on the table with 19 points from 22 outings.
