Judas Mosemaedi was at it again as he scored a brace to lead Maritzburg United to a 2-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership clash at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.
Moseamedi, who has been Amakhosi’s chief tormentor struck twice in the second half with Maritzburg registering their second win in a row and a first clean sheet this season.
Nicknamed the “Chiefs slayer”, Moseamedi walked away with the Man of the Match award for his efforts.
The first half was a rather quiet affair with not much goalscoring opportunities for either side.
Maritzburg kept it tight at the back, while ‘Amakhosi’ were unable to penetrate the visitors’ defence.
Chiefs kept applying the pressure, but they were reduced to long range efforts, as Khama Billiat came close to opening the scoring just before the half time break with an effort just outside the box that was smothered by Maritzburg’s goalkeeper Jethren Barr.
In the second half, Maritzburg came back stronger as Ernst Middendorp’s team seems to have found their rhythm. They move up to 12th place on the log standings with eight points after 10 matches.
🗣 Coach Ernst Middendorp
“We had to adjust at half-time. More and more we felt comfortable. We have the players who can turn chances into goals. Compliments to the entire team, that was great fighting spirit.” #WeAreUnited pic.twitter.com/F1oS5HJjgs
