Chiefs keep top eight hopes alive


Kaizer Chiefs defeated Golden Arrows 3-2 in a DStv Premiership match at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Wednesday evening, with the result keeping alive their hopes of finishing in the top eight.

‘The Glamour Boys’ had to come back twice from behind to secure the win thanks to a hat-trick by Lebohang Manyama.

Michael Gumede gave Arrows the lead in the 22nd minute but Chiefs were level in the 32nd minute, as Manyama was on hand to finish off from a cross from Willard Katsande.

The KwaZulu-Natal side were back in the lead just after the hour the hour mark, after Mathoho conceded an own goal, heading in the ball into his own net.

It was Manyama again who found the equaliser, this time in the 73rd minute chipping over Sifiso Mlungwana from a Nkosingiphile Ngcobo assist.

Manyama completed his hat trick five minutes later, once again assisted by Ngcobo.

Chiefs move up ninth place on the log standings with 33 points after 29 matches.

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch and TS Galaxy played out to a goalless at the DC Stadium.
