Mamelodi Sundowns’ title ambitions suffered a huge blow following a 3-2 defeat by Cape Town City at Loftus Versfeld on Monday night.
‘The Citizens’ drew first blood through Surprise Ralani in the 13th minute, with Kermit Erasmus scoring the second, a minute before half time.
But the ‘Brazilians’ pulled one back through an own goal by Edmilson Dove to make it 2-1 at the half time break.
City carried on where they left off in the first half and immediately found the back of the net through Ralani for his brace, 9 minutes into the second half.
Substitute Keletso Makgalwa scored the consolation goal for Sundowns during the referee’s optional time.
The defeat was a fourth of the current Absa Premiership season for Sundowns who now trail log leaders Kaizer Chiefs by six points with six matches remaining.
