Orlando Pirates fought back from a goal down to beat Maritzburg United 3-1 on Saturday evening to reach the last eight of the Nedbank Cup.

Although Pirates had better ball possession in the first 45 minutes, the home side went into the break with a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Thabiso Kutumela who put the ball into an empty net after a lapse in communication between Richard Ofori and Thulani Hlatshwayo.

Pirates came back fired up in the second and scored two goals in a space of a minute thanks to strikes from Kabelo Dlamini and Deon Hotto who found the back of the net in the 55th and 56th minute to make it 2-1.

Vincent Pule sealed victory for the visitors with 12 minutes left on the clock.
