Pirates earn late draw against Baroka


Tshegofatso Mabaso snatched a 91st minute equaliser as Orlando Pirates played out to a 1-1 draw against a stubborn Baroka side in a DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium.

Baroka looked to be heading for victory after a goalkeeping error by Richard Ofori allowed Ananias Gebhardt to poke home from close range two minutes into the second half.

But Mabasa once again came off the bench to save Pirates from suffering their first league defeat of the 2020/21.

With the draw at home, the Soweto giants are now third on the log standings with 9 points after five games – two wins and three stalemates.

Meanwhile, Baroka dropped to fifth place with 8 points – two wins and two losses as well as the one defeat.

In the late kickoff on Saturday, league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns will host  Stellenbosch at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 18:00 followed by AmaZulu and Cape Town City at 20:00 in Durban.
