Swallows leave it late to earn precious point

GladAfrica Championship Champions Swallows had to rely on a second-half injury-time equaliser to earn a 1-all draw with rivals Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership clash played at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In a Soweto derby match that produced plenty of goal-scoring chances, Ben Motshwari latched on to a poor clearance by Sammy Seabi and smashed a volley into the top corner to give Pirates the lead in the 84th minute.

But, Kamohelo Mahlatsi’s last-gasp strike in added time saw Swallows salvage a point with Pirates to remain unbeaten this season.

Motshwari had a big impact in the game and was named Man of the Match for his efforts.

‘The Dube Birds’ remain second on the log standings, two points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns. While Pirates drop to sixth spot with 14 points after nine matches.
