Orlando Pirates comfortably won 2-0 against Cape Town City in a DStv Premiership clash played in Soweto at Orlando Stadium.
The ‘Buccaneers’ started off like a house on fire, as they took the game to CT City, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the match.
Deon Hotto opened the scoring for the hosts inside the first minute of the game after running on a good ball from Fortune Makaringe.
Four minutes later, Pirates made it 2-0 through Vincent Pule, who had an easy tap-in from a Thembinkosi Lorch’s cross.
The ‘Buccaneers’ have now claimed 17 points from nine home matches this season while CT City, who have been good on the road suffer their only second defeat away from home.
Meanwhile, at the Dr Molemela Stadium, Bloemfontein Celtic secured a 2-1 win over SuperSport United.
Debutant Reagan Van der Ross opened the scoring for ‘Siwelele’ before Lucky Mohomi equalised for ‘Matsatsantsa’.
But it was Celtic, who took all the three points as Motebang Sera netted the winner late in the second half.
