BREAKING NEWS: Mosimane wins second Champions League title

Pitso Mosimane has sealed his second CAF Champions League title after his Al Ahly side narrowly defeated Zamalek 2-1 to be crowned African champions for the ninth time on Friday night at the Cairo International Stadium.

The Cairo Derby – the first CAF Champions League final to be played between teams from the same country.

Mosimane’s men started like a house on fire opening the scoring inside the first five minutes of the game through Amr El Solia.

The midfielder sneaked in behind the defence to nod in a header from Ali Maaloul’s corner to give The Red Devils the lead.

On the half-hour mark, Zamalek hit back as captain Mahmoud Shikabala found the equaliser.

The experienced striker picked the ball from a throw-in on the right, drifted to his favourite left foot before unleashing a belter that left Mohamed Elshenawy dazed.

However, Mohamed Madgy Afsha scored a beauty of a goal – the winning strike with four minutes left on the clock.

Ahly also kept their track of not being beaten by their eternal rivals in the CAF Champions League, picking their sixth win in nine matches.
