Mamelodi Sundowns hammered Orlando Pirates 4-1 in the last Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Thursday evening.
It was a frustrating night for Pirates as they were outclassed by the defending champions.
Peter Shalulile opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Tshegofatso Mabaso made it 1-all in the 32nd minute of the action-packed first half.
‘The Brazilians’ started the second half like a house on fire – showing their class as they scored three unanswered goals. Themba Zwane made it 2-1 in the 48th minute with substitute Lesedi Kapinga netting the third goal shortly after coming onto the pitch in the 77th minute.
Hlompho Kekana wrapped up the result, with a goal from just outside the area in the 85th minute to give Sundowns a comprehensive win.
Sundowns will now host Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in Sunday’s semi-final, while Pretoria Callies will meet Chippa United on Saturday in the other last four game.
